Drew Barrymore and Will Kopelman’s divorce has been finalised.
Less than three weeks after the actress filed papers in New York, her third marriage has officially come to an end.
While there is a standard six-month waiting period when filing in California, since the paperwork was lodged in New York and wasn’t contested – meaning there was no dispute over the division of their assets or custody of their children – it was a much quicker process.
‘Drew and Will both wanted the divorce done expeditiously,’ a source tells Page Six. ‘They didn’t want a messy divorce. They are still friends – in fact, they are all together in Nantucket right now.’
Drew and Will were married on June 2, 2012 – just four months after getting engaged, having been together since 2011.
The couple are the proud parents of daughters Olive, three, and Frankie, two.
The pair announced their separation and intention to divorce in a joint statement released through People on April 2.
‘Sadly our family is separating legally, although we do not feel this takes away from us being a family,’ the statement began. ‘Divorce might make one feel like a failure, but eventually you start to find grace in the idea that life goes on.
‘Our children are our universe, and we look forward to living the rest of our lives with them as the first priority.’
The 41-year-old actress officially filed divorce papers on July 15.
