Rhiannon Stevens has made her brother’s baby dreams come true.
Thirty-five-year-old Rhiannon recently gave birth to her second daughter with brother Clinton, after offering to be a surrogate for him and his partner, Callum.
The siblings first discussed the idea of the surrogacy after Clinton “came out” 14 years ago. But it wasn’t until his marriage to Callum in 2012, that the pair entertained the thought.
After adopting and international surrogacy proved difficult for the couple, Rhiannon, already a mum of three, decided to step in and help Callum and Clinton in their quest to become parents. And in 2014, using a donor egg and the couple’s sperm, Rhiannon successfully became pregnant with their eldest daughter, Zara.
Now, Rhiannon has welcomed to the world the couple’s second child, Aiden, with the baby girl born just three weeks ago.
“It felt like the most natural thing in the world to offer to be his and Callum’s surrogate,” Rhiannon said, reflecting on the experience to News.com.au.
“I’ve never been concerned about having any difficulty handing the baby over to them at the end of the process. After Zara was born, it only took three months to offer to go again.”
“Clinton and Callum are absolutely wonderful with kids and helping them to become parents was a dream come true for me,” she said. “I’d do it again in a heartbeat.”
Rhiannon says her and her brother have always been close and have forever shared a love of kids.
“We fought like all siblings as kids, but as soon as we grew up we adored each other. When Clinton came out to our family, the first thing I said was that I’d help him have a baby when the time was right.
