He’s the brash Aussie battler who appears as tough as nails on House Rules, yet Troy is nursing a sad secret.
The father-of-one reveals to New Idea he’s hoping his stint on national TV will reunite him with his long-lost dad.
‘I’ve never met him, [but] I know his name,’ Troy says.
‘I watch shows where they track people down, and I hope that he comes forward.’
The 46-year-old confesses he’s spent most of his life trying to track down his father.
‘I tried for a long time and then I sort of gave up because he didn’t want me,’ Troy reveals.
‘It’s been a missing link in the chain for a long time for me.
‘It would be good to meet him once before he passes away, or he might have passed away already.
‘I don’t know whether I would want anything to do with him, but I would like to know that he is there and that he’s thinking of me.’
Troy entered House Rules along with account manager girlfriend Bec, 39, and the pair are hoping to move into the renovated home together as a family, with Bec’s two children Hayley, 14, and Josh, 11.
House Rules airs Monday to Thursday, 7.30pm and Sunday, 7pm, Channel Seven.
