She got everyone smiling back in the 80s with her global number one hit The Lambada, but Kaoma singer Loalwa Braz’s life has ended in a very sad and shocking way.
The 63-year-old singer’s body has been found in a burnt out car in her native Brazil, after two men were reportedly seen fleeing her home in Saquarema, Rio de Janeiro state.
Firefighters had been called to a house blaze when her remains were found.
‘Inside the car the team identified that there was a charred body,’ said a spokesperson.
The raunchy Lambada dance craze – which briefly rode on a wave of controversy over its lewd moves – sparked a string of songs and even a couple of movies in the late 80s, but only the Kaoma hit crossed over to major chart success, selling millions of copies around the world.
