She hit headlines recently when she opened up about undergoing a breast augmentation – and now Home and Away favourite Ada Nicodemou has told about her decision to speak out.
Talking to Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies on Channel 7’s The Morning Show on Jan. 31, Ada revealed why she refused to let comments calling her ‘fake’ on social media go unchallenged.
In January – while the star was on holiday in the Maldives with boyfriend Adam Rigby – Ada responded to what she called “body shaming” comments posted on her Instagram page.
The super fit actress has been sharing a slew of bikini snaps, but after receiving a comment labelling her “fake”, Ada, 41, hit back.
“I appreciate that every has a right to an opinion but have u stopped to think what example this gives to other girls and young women about body shaming and tearing down other women. This is where cyber bullying begins,” she wrote.
And btw I don’t use fillers and I rarely use Botox and the only surgery that I’ve done as is ‘fake’ is a breast augmentation which I have every right to do. Maybe think before you post next time.”
Speaking about her decision to hit back on The Morning Show, Ada opened up candidly.
“I did let that roll for a while, but then it just affected me and I thought ‘what sort of messages that sending out to other young women, the body shaming?’”Ada asked.
“I think it is completely unacceptable. Whatever we want to do to ourselves to make us feel good about ourselves, but it is not good for people to sit back and body shame us.”
The star said it felt good to voice her thoughts on the matter.
“Absolutely because I’m taking my power back and for other young women who can’t do that,” she told the hosts.
