Former Home and Away favourite Johnny Ruffo has penned an emotional post – a year on from the brain cancer nightmare that almost took his life.
Taking to Instagram, Johnny – who first found fame on X Factor Australia – thanked those who had supported him through a ‘crazy ride’.
‘Today is exactly a year since I was rushed to hospital to have an emergency operation to remove a brain tumour,’ Johnny wrote.

‘It has been a crazy ride and I’m not quite finished yet but I want to share some snaps of the past year and say thank you to everyone who has been there for me and supported me throughout this time.’
The star accompanied his post with photos of his girlfriend, Tahnee Sims and other loved ones.
Previously speaking to the Who Are You podcast, Johnny opened up about the moment Tahnee – his partner of three years – forced him to go to hospital because of an ongoing migraine he was suffering.

‘I was just at home and I had a headache, but everyone has headaches and you never think much of it,’ Johnny told podcast host Pete Timbs.
‘It had been ongoing and it just got worse and worse. It got to about 4 or 5 in the afternoon and I couldn’t speak, I couldn’t communicate with her [Tahnee] at all,’ the star went on.
At hospital, Johnny stayed overnight for tests. By the next morning he had slipped into a coma and needed emergency surgery to remove a brain tumour.

Doctors told Johnny that if he did not go to the hospital when he did, he would have gone to sleep that night at home and never have woken up.
‘I would have gone into a coma that night and Tahnee would have tried to wake up me the next morning and I just would have been out,’ Johnny said of his ordeal.
