Flown back to the Bay from the military hospital in Germany with an anxious Marilyn (Emily Symons) and John (Shane Withington) by his side, a seriously injured Jett (Will McDonald) undergoes a range of tests conducted by Tori (Penny McNamee).
“This is such a devastating time for all of them,” says Shane.
In emotional scenes, we see that Marilyn and John have barely been coping since receiving word that Jett had suffered spinal injuries in an incident in Afghanistan.
“John, particularly, holds himself to blame for what happened and feels absolutely terrible,” says Shane. “John has always been a navy man, and so he encouraged Jett to join the military and serve his country. He was always far more in favour than Marilyn was of his son being in the armed forces, and now John’s guilt starts to set in. But they will have to wait and see whether Jett will be able to walk again.”
“Jett is just 20 and has his whole life ahead of him,” adds Will. “Now all of his hopes for what he thought his life would be could be dashed.”
The most important question remains: what will the test results reveal?
