Life has been anything but easy of late for troubled Summer Bay resident Dean (Patrick O’Connor). And now the former River Boy, who has been battling a serious addiction to sleeping pills, is about to find himself under more stress than he ever could have imagined.

Waking from a deep sleep after undergoing a hellish couple of days detoxing at a motel, Dean is in for a massive shock when Colby (Tim Franklin) announces he is planning to turn himself in for Ross’ (Justin Rosniak) murder.
“Dean just cannot believe what he’s hearing,” says Patrick.
For, as Dean – who helped Colby dispose of the body – knows all too well, there’s every chance he could go down with his friend for the homicide.
“That’s definitely on Dean’s mind,” says Patrick. “He’s always known that if the police find the body they’ll know that he was also involved, and both he and Colby will be going to jail for a really long time.”
While Colby tries to assure Dean he won’t be implicated if Colby confesses, Dean begs his best friend to reconsider, reminding him that he needs to be around to care for his younger sister Bella (Courtney Miller).
“Dean wants nothing more than for Colby to somehow try and move forward and stay out of jail,” says Patrick. “Dean, Colby, Willow (Sarah Roberts) and Bella are like a little family in the Bay and they really need to stay together.”
As for Bella, she is in for the shock of her life when Colby finally admits the devastating truth to her.
“It turns her world upside down,” reveals Patrick. “She no longer feels she can trust Colby.”
