Hillary Clinton’s shock confession: I didn’t want to leave the house

The presidential contender comes out of seclusion

Hillary Clinton has come out of hiding in the aftermath of her presidential defeat, confessing she was so devastated by her failure at the ballot box that she considered never leaving the house again.

Looking tired and drawn, she opened up on the consequences of last week’s historic election.

‘I will admit coming here tonight wasn’t the easiest thing for me,’ she confessed at Children’s Defense Fund’s gala in Washington – her first official engagement since the controversial outcome.

‘I will admit coming here tonight wasn’t the easiest thing for me, she said, before adding, ‘there have been a few times this past week when all I wanted to do is just to curl up with a good book or our dogs and never leave the house again.’

Clinton says she is determined to stay engaged in public service despite her setback, and perhaps the lingering threat that the incoming president may try to make good on his threat to see her jailed.

‘I ask you to stay engaged, stay engaged on every level,’ she said. ‘That’s how we get through this. That’s how we make our contribution.’
