Helen Hunt has reportedly called it quits with her long-term partner Matthew Carnahan.
According to E! News, the 54-year-old Oscar winning actress and her writer-producer beau ended their relationship “several months” ago after 16 years together.
“They had a rocky relationship and many offs and ons over the years,” a source told the publication.
“They’ve split up before, but this time seems to be different.”
The couple share a daughter, 13-year-old Makena Lei. Carnahan, 56, also has a 20-year-old son from a previous relationship.
In Touch were the first to report the heartbreaking news on Wednesday.
“Friends were shocked,” an insider said.
“Helen and Matthew always appeared to be super in love. Their married friends would joke that they were jealous of their relationship.”
But the source claims that behind closed doors the couple were harbouring “trust issues,” with Helen “convinced Matthew had strayed.”
“She had been suspicious for a long time that something was wrong. But he insisted he didn’t betray her.”
The star’s reps have declined to comment.
