Gwyneth Paltrow spent a lonely 44th birthday away from partner Brad Falchuck.
The Oscar winning star headed to Mexico with her girlfriends after her boyfriend backed out at the last minute.
A source told Star Magazine: ‘Brad made up some BS excuse about work so Gwyneth ended up bringing a bunch of her girlfriends instead.
‘She tried to put on a happy face, but when Brad texted her happy birthday, we were all shocked.’
Trouble between the two – who have been dating since August 2014 – apparently came to a head when the subject of babies came up recently after they attended Cameron Diaz’s 44th birthday party in August.
The spy said: ‘Cameron and [husband] Benji [Madden] have been trying for a baby recently, and it got Gwyneth thinking.
‘But when she brought it up to Brad, he freaked out. Gwyneth isn’t sure where they go from here.’
Gwyneth has two children – Apple, 12, and Moses, 10 – with ex-husband, Chris Martin.
