According to E! News, the reboot will be 10 episodes long and will pick up eight years after we left Serena, Blair, Chuck, Nate and Dan in New York.
Although none of the original cast – including Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Ed Westwick and Chace Crawford – are confirmed to be reprising their iconic roles, the series creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage are set to be heading the team as the show’s executive producers.
Hollywood heavy-eight Kirsten Bell also lent her voice to the original series playing the show’s narrator ‘Gossip Girl’, however, it is unclear if the star will make a return.
Speaking with E! News, Meester – who played lead character Blair Waldorf – revealed she had not been approached to star in the reboot.
“No one’s ever asked me,” Meester told the publication.
“No one’s ever talked to me about it except for in interviews and I always say the same: I never say never, so I don’t know. No one’s sent me that information, it’s coming from you.”
