Gloria Estefan is mourning the loss of her mother.
The singer shared an emotional post on Instagram night announcing the sad news that her mother, Gloria Fajardo, passed away aged 88.
Estefan, 59, said that her mother died peacefully and surrounded by family and friends.
“I know it was exactly the way she would have wanted her departure from this earth to be, surrounded by love and the true representations of everyone that was special to her in life,” she wrote on Instagram.
The singer revealed that Fajardo’s time of death held a special meaning.
Estefan revealed that her mother passed away at 8:19, which was special because her mother died on “on 8/19 thirty-two years ago”.
“I will miss her every moment of every day,” the singer also wrote. “And I thank her for being the incredible mother, woman and role model that she was to so many people.”
