The lucky girlfriend of Australia’s hottest cop has revealed he’s a hopeless romantic who lavishes her with flowers and whisks her away to top-notch hotels.
Tayla Lange, 22, met Mason Jago on Tinder two years ago.
‘I think it was his smile that got me,’ she says, unsurprisingly. ‘For our first date, he picked me up and had a rose in his hand. He took me to the fanciest restaurant in town.’
Describing their first anniversary, Tayla reminisces: ‘He whisked me away to a nice hotel. He had rose petals all through the room. ‘On Valentine’s Day this year, he sent a massive bouquet of flowers to my work.’
Despite Mason receiving saucy propositions from men and women all over Australia since his cheeky selfie went viral, Tayla isn’t worried.
‘Mason and I are completely happy in our relationship. I’m not really the jealous type. I trust him,’ she says.
The 25-year-old police constable admits to feeling a little ‘embarrassed’ and ‘surprised’ about his new-found heart-throb status.
‘I’ve never considered myself as a hottie. I’m just an average Joe,’ he says.
However, Mason’s colleagues at Gatton station in Queensland are certainly not letting him forget it anytime soon!
‘Everyone has been bagging me out. I’m the joke of the station,’ Mason laughs.
‘They’ve been putting pictures of my article basically all over the walls, and on my locker they’ve put a picture of that hot criminal that made the news, comparing me to him.’
Despite feeling a little ‘overwhelmed’ by the attention, Mason is taking it all in his stride.
‘I love all the handcuffing jokes: “He can handcuff me or arrest me any day,” “I wonder if he takes his handcuffs home and does naughty things,” – those sort of ones are all pretty amusing,’ he says.
However, Mason’s mum is not so impressed.
‘She’s terrified about it all,’ he reveals.
‘She’s been stressing because there’s going to be jealous boyfriends coming to beat me up and all kinds of things. It’s not good for me, apparently.’
