Netflix has finally given Gilmore Girls fans a glimpse of what’s to come with their highly-anticipated four-part spin-off series, Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life.
Dropping the first ever preview trailer in the early hours of Thursday morning, fans have been assured that ‘seasons may change but some things never will’. Phew!
Cue Lorelai and Rory – played by Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel – sitting in their usual spots at the kitchen table, pondering life’s biggest questions.
‘Do you think Amy Schumer would like me?’ Lorelai asks her daughter, who is quick to shoot her mother down with a swift, ‘No’.
The Dragonfly Inn co-owner launches into her typical quick-fire dialog as she argues she would be the perfect new best friend for the comedienne.
‘It’s not like I’m perpetually armed or at sundown I turn into one of those vampires with no sense of humour, or I have that plant strapped to me that only blooms every 50 years and smells disgusting,’ Lorelai insists.
Long gone are the show’s signature pagers and flip phones – instead, Rory searches for said plant on the iPhone, informing her mum it’s the corpse flower.
But flowers aside, Rory breaks the news to her mum that the real reason they’ll never be friends is down to ‘water sports’. ‘Every single time I see her in a magazine, she’s on vacation, doing water sports.’
‘Oh no, that would not work at all!’ Lorelai admits, a disgusted look on her face.
The cast and creators recently gave media a special preview of the first two minutes of the first instalment in the series – Winter – at the Television Critics Association summer press tour.
While the clip isn’t being released online, it did reveal that Lorelai is still living in Stars Hollow while Rory is visiting her childhood home from her new base in London.
The special four-part event will premiere on Netflix on November 25.
