At the beginning of 2013, Michael visited Byron Bay to stay at a $46,000 per week rehabilitation clinic called Sanctuary for a duration of two months, with Fawaz by his side.

Taking to Twitter, Fawaz retweeted a friends message which read that it was a ‘rough patch’, but despite the challenges, he cherished them and would remember them forever.

On January 15, Fawaz wrote: ‘September 2011 till December 2016 best years of my life. I will always forever miss you. Xxx.’

At age 53, Michael was found dead by the Queensland-born lover on Christmas Day 2016.
