The 56-year-old actor and his lawyer wife, 39, have also revealed the traditional names of their baby boy and girl in a witty statement as they celebrate being first time parents.

“This morning Amal and George welcomed Ella and Alexander Clooney into their lives. Ella, Alexander and Amal are all healthy, happy and doing fine,” their rep said.

“George is sedated and should recover in a few days.”

The A-list power couple spent thousands of dollars on a luxury suite at London’s Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, not far from their home in Berkshire, England.

Celebrities have been pouring in with the messages of congratulations on Twitter, with Ellen DeGenres writing: “Welcome to the world, Ella and Alexander Clooney. Congratulations, George and Amal, or as I’m now calling you, Ocean’s Four.”

George and Amal, who married in a romantic ceremony in Venice, Italy in 2014, dropped their baby bombshell in February.

It’s likely the pair will stay settled in the UK and they have chosen not to travel as much to spend time as a family.

George previously said: “We decided to be much more responsible, to avoid the danger. I will not go to South Sudan anymore and in the Congo, Amal will no longer go to Iraq and she will avoid places where she knows she is not welcome.

“Before, I did not care, I would even say that there was a pretty exciting side to going where no reporter had ever been.”
