Less than a year after George and Amal Clooney welcomed twin babies, the A-list couple have ‘adopted’ an Iraqi refugee.
Last week Amal revealed that they welcomed Yazidi refugee Hazim Avdal into their family, taking him to America to live with them in their Kentucky home. The 40-year-old human rights lawyer has represented several Yazidis, who have been victims of genocide committed by ISIS, and she met Hazim in court in 2016.
He told the Hollywood super couple – who are parents to eight-month-old twins Ella and Alexander – that he’d love to study in America, a wish which was immediately granted by George and Amal.
‘When I met him, I remember being so struck by his courage but also just his amazing spirit and how he spoke about – even after everything he lost – his desire for justice, not revenge,’ Amal told David Letterman.
