She took to her personal and business Facebook accounts in the early hours of Thursday morning to announce her surprise engagement, and now Brynne Edelsten’s former husband has reacted to the shock news.
‘It’s very sudden,’ 74-year-old Geoffrey Edelsten said when approached by Fairfax Media.
‘I have been talking to her a fair bit over the last few months and she never mentioned a relationship, so the news seems surprising,’ he said, before asking: ‘Who is she engaged to?’
That is indeed the question!
On Thursday, Brynne shared her unexpected news on Facebook, writing ‘I’m engaged’, alongside the hashtags #engagement and #savethedate.
While most of her fans appeared to be generally pleased, several commented below the announcement asking if she’d been hacked.
While the 34-year-old has yet to reveal who her mystery lover is, she informed the Mail Online that she had shared the news of her engagement with her mother, stating that they had not been pictured together as he is not in Australia at the moment.
He has left the country the same day as the engagement and comes back at the end of next week,’ Brynne explained.
Brynne and Geoffrey were married for five years before splitting in 2014, however the controversial businessman said that they recently started speaking again and are on amicable terms, but it’s strictly a “platonic” relationship.
‘I wish her all the very best. I am very happy for her,’ he said.
Brynne’s most recently dated poet Ian McAllister for two months before splitting last October.
She has also been spotted trying her luck on Tinder.
