A few people questioned the Fox’s judgement in regards to using the posters so prominently and its appeal to viewers.

Fox shared a statement to address the issue. “In our enthusiasm to show the villainy of the character Apocalypse we didn’t immediately recognize the upsetting connotation of this image in print form.”

The statement continued, “Once we realized how insensitive it was, we quickly took steps to remove those materials. We apologize for our actions and would never condone violence against women.”

The film is now showing in cinemas and has been quite popular, despite the criticism.
