Flip or Flop stars Tarek and Christina El Moussa have denied their marriage ended because Tarek was suicidal, in an email conversation with People magazine.
The couple, famous for their bickering in the show about what fittings to have in their home reno projects, have now separated and are trying to work out what’s best for their business and children Taylor, six, and Braydon, 16 months.
The reality stars ended their marriage after a row in May when Christina feared her husband was suicidal.
At the time, police said a “crying and shaking Christina” called the cops after Tarek fled their home carrying a gun in a backpack.
A helicopter and 11 officers had to find him and bring him home.
But in an email to People, the couple have now explained: “Tarek was going on a hike and took a gun for protection from mountain lions, bobcats, coyotes and rattlesnakes.
“His intentions were misread.
“Once [police] were there it was determined that he had no negative intentions towards himself or anyone else.”
The couple sought marriage guidance afterwards but ultimately decided to separate and have even been dating other people.
They added: “We believe this was in the best interests of the children and the best way to determine a path forward.”
