Talking with Ricki-Lee before this performance, Jayden revealed: “Singing to me was an escape. Like growing up, I sort of had it a bit rough here and there, with mum and dad and myself, in and out of homes.”

Heading to the stage, Nicole asks a nervous-looking Jayden, “Do you gig a lot?”

“This is actually my first time even singing into a mic really”, Jayden replies, “I’m pretty nervous”.

Despite his nerves, when the young teenager from Hobart began singing, the audience – and the judges – were visibly moved.

After the performance, Lucy wipes away a tear before Nicole addresses Jayden.

“There is something to be said for just being yourself and being vulnerable,” Nicole begins, “One of my favourite sayings is, ‘If you feel like you don’t fit into this world it’s because you were born to create a new one'”.

Lucy then added. “That raw passion is incredibly moving, I was floored.”
