Grease is the word again! A new conspiracy theory is gaining huge popularity with fans, sending the internet into melt down – and we have to admit it’s making us think twice…
Reddit user atomicbolt claims that throughout the 1978 musical there are hidden clues that point to Sandy actually drowning on the beach with Danny. Yes. The theory is that she’s dead – or dying – throughout the entire movie and it’s all happening in her head as she slips away!
First clue is the lyrics to ‘Summer Nights’, when Danny says, “saved her life, she nearly drowned.” Here, the reddit user explains: “Sandy actually did drown on the beach that day. As she drowned, her brain deprived of oxygen, she had a vivid coma fantasy involving her summer fling with Danny, where they shared a magical year of high school together.”
The theory continues, pointing out the car flying at the end of the film, which “promptly defies the laws of gravity and flies at into the sky.The whole film is a dream sequence leading to Sandy ascending to ‘heaven’.
