A bitter family feud has erupted over the late Ian Ross’ will.
Ross, who died of pancreatic cancer aged 73 in 2014, left his estate to defacto partner Gray Bolte. However, his estranged son is now disputing his father’s wishes in the Queensland Supreme Court.
As well as claiming he was once promised an investment property, Stuart said Ross was not a ‘devoted’ dad, The Courier Mail reports.
‘In fact, after he left the family home in about 1974, he led a separate life and had a lifestyle which did not really include his children at all,’ he told the court.
Adding, ‘Because [Ross] was a well-known newsreader, I felt that I grew up in his shadow. It was as if nothing was good enough to please him. For his part, I got the impression from him that he felt I should have been more successful in life.’
According to The Courier Mail, Bolte labelled Stuart a ‘dropout’. Bolte’s affidavit claims Stuart phoned ‘late at night and told him he hated him and wished he was dead’.
‘There were endless phone and SMS threats from Stuart,’ said the affidavit.
