Just weeks after two new couples joined the social experiment, New Idea can reveal that tension on set reached an all-time high.
In particular, our onset spies say blonde bombshells Jessika and Susie clashed on a number of occasions when the cameras weren’t rolling because they fancied the same man, Dan.
It’s also been revealed that Susie was keen to play out her own affair with the former Rugby League player, even suggesting the idea to producers.
“Susie was happy to play the villain and admitted Dan was more her type from the moment she saw him,” our insider continues.
“She even put the storyline out there and basically put her hand up to be the homewrecker of the season but Ines and Sam had already taken on those roles before she even arrived.”
“Whenever those two girls were in the same room, you could just feel the tension,” dishes our source, adding they would often compete for Dan’s attention.
“And it’s not like they weren’t making it obvious. It was like being back in high-school where the two popular girls are fighting over the popular boy.”
Producers also knew that Jessika, who had been in the experiment longer, would fall for Dan. And because of this, viewers would be more invested watching their forbidden love unfold on screen.
“Unfortunately for Mick, they (producers) knew that a storyline which sees the unlucky-in-love farmer getting his heartbroken when his much younger and glamourous wife leaves him for the handsome bad-boy with tattoos would be better for ratings – and that’s exactly what they decided to go with.”
