With the mid-season finale of season two airing last night to 800,000 viewers, 800 Word’s lead actor, Erik Thomson opens up to New Idea about where he sees the future of the show going.
‘I’m pretty confident we’ll get a third season,’ Erik assuredly responds.
Erik’s certainty makes sense. The Seven show has performed strongly ever since its first episode last year, pulling in strong ratings, much to Erik’s relief.
In fact, just before the premiere episode of the first season ratings were released, the 49-year-old reveals he was a ball of nerves and couldn’t sleep.
‘I woke up at about 7 o’clock in the morning and the ratings come out at about eight or nine (am) and I started to get really worried at about eight o’clock,” the former Packed To The Rafter’s actor remembers. ‘I thought, ‘This could be it for me’ – it was the first time I’d really worried about that (my acting future).’
As it turned out, the handsome actor had nothing to worry about.
‘The numbers came through and we were all giddy with delight,’ Erik laughs. ‘I was just hoping the show wouldn’t be s***house, let alone do that well and win Logies! I was never expecting that. I just didn’t want it to be embarrassingly bad.’
