Baby Spice has officially drawn a line in the sand.
Emma Bunton has taken Geri Horner’s side in the Spice Girls sex scandal, after Mel B made “hurtful” comments about an intimate relationship she had with Ginger Spice at the height of the girl band’s fame in the ’90s.
Talking Virgin FM’s breakfast show, Emma said Mel’s claims came as a surprise to her.
“It’s the first I’ve heard of it, let’s put it that way,” she said, before the radio host asked whether the comments were made to attract publicity for their upcoming reunion tour.
“That’s how I feel, it’s a laugh,” she said.
Then, she implied that her Scary bandmate is a liar. “Also, with Mel, you take everything with a pinch of salt. She’s great fun.”
After telling Piers Morgan she was in a sexual relationship with Geri, Mel back-tracked on her comments.
“It wasn’t, like, a big deal,” Mel B later admitted. “We’ve known each other for 20-plus years. It was just one of those things that happened one night.”
She continued: “I just said it was, like, a little thing and we giggled about it the next day and that’s that. … I just admitted we had a little bit of a thing back in the day at one time. And that’s it.”
