Ellen Degeneres shocked some fans this week, by publicly shaming a woman who was secretly filmed loading up on free merchandising, after being told it was strictly one item per person.
Entrapping guests by offering them apparently unsupervised access to a room full of goodies, Ellen then shamed those who had broken the rules by showing the footage during the show and grilling one of the women, who was seated in the audience.
‘I just wanted to see how honest my audience was,’ Ellen explained.
While she rewarded one woman who did the right thing, by giving her a free cap, another named Nancy, and her unnamed friend, were not so fortunate after they were shown apparently making off with multiple freebies.
‘No one will see it,’ one of the women was heard saying.
When confronted, Nancy claimed she wanted something for her sister, who ‘couldn’t make it.’
‘Yeah, a lot of people’s sisters couldn’t come,’ said Ellen, with an unusual degree of snark.
Ellen then further humiliated the woman by making her sit on a special chair in front of the audience, like a shamed school child.
‘Let that be a lesson to you,’ Ellen sniped. ‘You think nobody’s watching you and you just need to be a good person, just because you want to be a good person.’
