Comedian Kathy Griffin has slammed talk show favourite Ellen Degeneres, saying she’s got a nasty streak hiding behind her onscreen character of sweetness and light.
In her new book, the stand up says that she had a run-in with an unnamed TV talk host, who has a ‘mean streak that everyone knows about.’
But subtlety and discretion have since gone out the window, with Griffin admitting that she was talking about Ellen – who she claims banned her from her talk show for an undisclosed infraction. Griffin further alleges that Ellen had her booted from the dressing room area at the Emmy Awards.
‘I can’t prove it,’ she says. ‘I heard she got me kicked out.’
Adds Kathy, ‘My issue with Ellen is simple. You know, the guys in comedy are so good about sticking together. I feel sad that women don’t support each other the way the guys do. Joan [Rivers] and I would talk about this all the time. Patriarchy pits us against each other.’
