He’s famous for shying away from the limelight.
But now the ‘real reason’ why Dolly Parton’s husband hasn’t been seen in years has allegedly been revealed in a top selling US magazine.
According to American publication Globe, Carl Dean’s reclusive lifestyle may be down to a secret condition.
Despite being married to one of the world’s most loved country singers for nearly 52 years, retired road builder Carl has reportedly barricaded himself in their sprawling Tennessee mansion and point blank refused to have anything to do with the world of celebrity.
And now, a therapist has outrageously speculated about a possible reason behind Carl’s behaviour – without ever having treated him!
“Avoidant personality disorder is a pervasive pattern by people feeling socially inhibited and like they aren’t good enough,” marriage and family therapist Carolyn Klassen tells the publication.
“When people have an avoidant style of relating to the world, what they are often doing is choosing to relate to the world in a way that keeps them safe.”
The therapist also warns that Carl and Dolly need to think about whether his reported behaviour is healthy.
“They get to decide if what he’s doing is the best way to be living, or if he’s missing out because it’s hard for him.”
Neither Carl nor Dolly has responded to Globe‘s outrageous allegations and dubious diagnosis. However Dolly has often spoken of how happy her marriage is, simply explaining away their different ways of life as a reflection of their very different personalities. It seems that Carl’s lifestyle is just down to personal choice.
“You can’t be in each other’s face all the time,” Dolly has said. “Actually, I think that has been the best formula for us, the fact that we appreciate each other when we are together. We don’t have to be together all the time.”
