Actor Reg E. Cathey has has passed away at age 59.
The actor best known for his roles on House of Cards and The Wire was battling lung cancer.
TMZ reports that he was in his home in New York and was surrounded by loved ones at the time of his passing.
The Wire creator David Simon took to Twitter to share a moving remembrance of Cathey.
An outpouring of support from his former colleagues was shared on social media.
The Wire star Sonja Sohn also tweeted, “1,000,000 times over. Masterful storyteller…an amazing life and human being. Truly a loss for the world.”
