Delta Goodrem has been slammed for setting a “bad example” after being featured in a commercial promoting “unsafe” and “illegal” driving practices.

Tech giant Apple has been forced to withdraw the ad for its streaming service Apple Music, after it pictured the Aussie songstress sitting in the passenger seat and “moving around in a motor vehicle with no clearly visible safety belt.”

At one point in the clip, The Voice coach could also be seen sticking her forearm and head out of the window.

Complaints to the Advertising Standards Board (ASB) claim Apple was “irresponsible” to produce the commercial as Goodrem is considered a role model to many young Australians.

“Delta Goodrem listening to music in the front seat of a moving car – not wearing a seatbelt!!!!!!! And her body/head is out of the moving car – illegal,” one read.

“There are enough problems with young people today and these issues are also against the law,” said another.

Others couldn’t help but point out that the singer was also distracting the vehicle’s driver.

Following the extreme backlash, Apple have pulled the advertisement from the air and released a statement in response.

“The individuals in the vehicle were both wearing lap seat belts at all times while the vehicle was being driven, and the advertisement does not contain any images suggesting otherwise,” the statement read.

The controversy comes just days after it was revealed that Goodrem had recently had her license suspended and received a fine for speeding.

Speaking with New Idea, a source close to her confessed that it’s been a rough few weeks for the star.

“Every time Delta thinks things are finally going her way, something knocks her down a peg or two,” the source said.

“She just keeps saying: ‘I can’t take it anymore.’”
