Delta Goodrem gets her dream wedding

Australia's darling celebrates her big day!

Tongues were set wagging when she was spotted giggling with a tall, dark and handsome unknown guest at the Australian Open last year. And now, New Idea can exclusively reveal that Delta Goodrem’s mystery man is none other than actor Richard Brancatisano – her on-screen lover in the upcoming Olivia Newton-John biopic: Hopelessly Devoted To You.

The pair – who clearly share sizzling chemistry both on and off the screen – forged a strong bond on the set of the hotly anticipated biopic, with Delta playing the Aussie icon and Richard taking on the role of Olivia’s first husband, actor and dancer Matt Lattanzi.

Speaking of her excitement at taking on the role of ONJ, Delta says: ‘I grew up with Olivia’s energy and beautiful voice in my world through her music, and then from an early age I was truly blessed to find friendship and mentorship from Olivia.’

‘She is an icon,’ Delta adds. ‘I am deeply humbled to play my idol and friend, and I am truly excited to share with people a part of Olivia’s life story.’

And perhaps the most exciting thing of all for the 33-year-old songstress is the fact that she gets to re-enact Olivia’s fairytale wedding to Matt, a dream come true for Delta, who is yet to walk down the aisle in real life.

The Voice star has most recently been linked to rocker Matthew Copley.

The pair are said to have met while they were travelling together for Delta’s national Wings Of The World Tour in October and November last year.

Previous to that, Delta was linked to actor Hugh Sheridan.

However, the notoriously private singer has yet to comment on the new romance.

‘I made a conscious decision when I was 30 that I’m not somebody who wants to talk about relationships,’ she recently confessed to InStyle.

‘All I’ve kept saying is: “I’m single and I’ll let you know when I’m in a serious relationship.”’

And while she continues to remain mum about her love life, Delta is clearly bursting with pride at the prospect of playing ‘angel’ and ‘total’ mentor, Olivia.

‘There’s such a bond there. It’s a very deep and spiritual connection,’ Delta says.

‘She always took me under her wing. Once I was writing a song for one of her albums and we were in Byron Bay, staying at Gaia [Olivia’s spa retreat].

‘She’d get up really early and say: “Come on Delta, let’s go!” I feel like that’s a symbol of what she does [for me]. She’s always been a guiding light.’

Olivia airs on Sunday night at 7:30pm on Channel Seven.
