David Campbell is not only the long-lost son of Australian icon Jimmy Barnes, but he is also a much-loved presenter on Today Extra, and a talented and successful singer, performer, and actor.

David, 50, has had a very full career, but he has also been very fulfilled in other aspects of his life such as his relationship with his wife, Lisa Hewitt, and the three children the happy couple have welcomed into the world.

How did David Campbell and Lisa Hewitt meet?

David and Lisa met in a Melbourne theatre green room in 2006 and spent every waking moment together following their first interaction. However, because Lisa was from England, their time together got cut short as she had to return to her home country. The night before she left, David confessed his feelings for her… David spoke exclusively with our sister publication Now To Love about the first time they met.

“The night before she left, I think I verbalised it. We were very deep in our cups, having a wonderful night, being emotional, and I said, ‘Boy, I would love for my children to see your face as a mother’,” he shared. “That should be a bit of a red flag.”

David considers himself very lucky to have Lisa in his life and openly shared with Now To Love that he doesn’t know how he got so lucky.

“I’m really insecure, so I don’t think I deserve it at the same time. I don’t know how I got so lucky, but I am and I ain’t letting go.” he said. “She should have listened three weeks in. It was a red flag.”
