Daryl Braithwaite has pulled out of his performance at the Australian Open tonight following the news that has been rushed to hospital due to “sudden illness”.
The Horses singer took to Facebook on Tuesday morning to express to his fans his disappointment at being forced to cancel several upcoming gigs, including his Red Hot Summer Tour shows on the Mornington Peninsula this weekend.
“Good morning, I unfortunately and regrettably have had to cancel this week’s shows due to illness and sudden admission into Hospital,” the 68-year-old penned.
“I am disappointed that I won’t be able to perform at the Australian Open Tennis tonight, nor the Mornington Peninsula RHST shows this weekend.”
“I am hoping to make a speedy recovery and be back doing shows very soon.”
“Regards Daryl.”
The Red Hot Summer tour organisers have announced that they will be replacing Braithwaite with band The Black Sorrows, featuring Vika and Lina Bull, and have sent their wellwishes to the singer via social media.
“We wish Daryl a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him in a few weeks at Ballarat,” they wrote on the tour’s Facebook page.
“.. From the RHST team and patrons alike we wish Daryl all the very best.”
Shannon Knoll – who has vowed to continue his scheduled performances after being arrested over a fight in Adelaide on the weekend – will also headline the shows, along with You’re The Voice hit maker John Farnham.
