Fans of popular US reality show Dance Moms were left reeling recently after learning that star and dance studio owner Abby Lee Miller is facing up to ten years in jail for financial fraud.
But while some have come out in defence of the outspoken 49-year-old choreographer, it seems not everyone is as sympathetic.
In fact, star student Kendall Vertes is leading the charge of those who are calling Abby’s legal dramas ‘karma’.
During the series’ pre-premiere special that aired on Tuesday night in the States, the 13-year-old didn’t mince her words as she was asked by host Jai Rodriguez what she made of Abby’s recent ‘scattered’ behaviour.
‘I’m just gonna say one word: Karma,’ she said bluntly. ‘She doesn’t really have her life planned out yet. She doesn’t know what she’s gonna do.’
And it seems Kendall’s resentment of Abby has been building for some time.
The aspiring singer, whose 2015 single Wear ‘Em Out reportedly surpassed Taylor Swift’s Bad Blood on the iTunes music video chart, also slammed her mentor for failing to be a proper music manager – revealing she’s yet to approve the release of her new album and single, much to her annoyance.
‘I spent my entire summer recording the songs and it’s sometimes frustrating,’ added the teenager. ‘It’s really annoying when you have a manager but they don’t do anything for you and they don’t want to release your music.’
Abby, who was noticeably absent from the special, has been indicted on 20 counts of bankruptcy fraud, concealing assets and making false bankruptcy declarations. She faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
‘I’m scared to death,’ she admits, adding: ‘My support system used to be the moms on Dance Moms but not anymore.’
