Australian actor Dan Ewing recently returned Down Under and to his role on Home and Away after a stint in the US.
The star, who’s best known for playing bad boy Heath Braxton on the Aussie soap, says he was offered the main role in major Hollywood movie, but knocked back because of a lackluster pay cheque.
Dan said it was a tough decision because it would have almost certainly catapulted his career in the US, but he made a decision to value himself as a performer.
‘It wasn’t shooting in the US, and they were like, ‘We’ll offer the lead role to an Australian because we’ll get him for cheap’, he told news.com.au.
He said the role was between him and an American actor and that while it isn’t about the money, he just couldn’t take the role offered and thought payment should be fair.
‘Don’t get me wrong – it’s not about the big pay packet, it’s about respect and valuing yourself as an Australian actor. We’re worth every bit as much as the other guys are.’
