Beloved for his camp persona on and off screen, the actor and singer will be almost unrecognisable in his new role on anticipated SBS drama Deep Water.
The 51-year-old plays homophobic bar manager Kyle Hammers in the four-part series based on gay hate murders in Sydney in the 80s and the 90s.
‘He’s a piece of work,’ Craig told TV Tonight about his character.
‘He carries a lot of hatred with a really sinister agenda and black history. The scripts are really confronting but really saying something.’
Craig appears alongside Orange Is The New Black star Yael Stone, Game Of Thrones’ Noah Taylor, William McInnes, Danielle Cormack and Jeremy Lindsay Taylor.
Deep Water launches October 5 at 8.30pm on SBS.
