One of the people killed in the terrorist attack at an Ariana Grande concert in the UK yesterday has been named as office worker Kelly Brewster, 32.
The brave aunt reportedly died trying to shield her sister and young niece from the suicide attacker’s nail bomb explosion, which resulted in the murder of 22 innocent concert goers.
Kelly, who had just put down a deposit on a home with partner Ian before the fateful concert, was described by Ian’s father Dave as ‘a lovely lass.
‘When I think of her now, all I remember is her smile.’
Relatives say that Kelly sustained fatal injuries after attempting to shield her beloved niece Hollie, 11, and sister Claire. Hollie has two broken legs and Claire has a broken jaw.
‘Hollie went up in the air when the bomb exploded and Kelly did all she could to protect her,’ a friend told UK newspaper The Sun.
‘She ran to shield Hollie from the blast as best she could. She threw herself in front of her.’
Kelly’s uncle confirmed to the paper, ‘Kelly has shielded Hollie and Claire from the damage.
‘The three were walking out in single file, with Claire in front, Hollie behind her, and Kelly behind her. When the bomb has gone off the impact has broken Claire’s jaw and broken Hollie’s legs. They are both currently in hospital having nuts and bolts removed from all places.’
Our thoughts are with all the families affected by this terrible crime.
