Linkin Park front man Chester Bennington has died aged 41.
According TMZ, the singer’s body was found by an employee in his home near Los Angeles on Thursday.
Authorities are investigating the matter as a suicide by hanging.
Bennington’s band mate, guitarist and vocalist Mike Shinoda took to Twitter to confirm the tragic news, writing: “Shocked and heartbroken, but it’s true. An official statement will come out as soon as we have one.”
The star died on the birthday Soundgarden vocalist Chris Cornell, who took his own life back in May.
Cornell’s wife, Vicky, shared a tribute on social media penning: “Just when I thought my heart couldn’t break anymore…… I love you T.”
A slew of artists from all genres of music have also paid their respects.
Cameron Strang, the head of Linkin Park’s label Warner Bros Records said in a statement: “Chester Bennington was an artist of extraordinary talent and charisma, and a human being with a huge heart and a caring soul. Our thoughts and prayers are with his beautiful family, his band-mates and his many friends. All of us at WBR join with millions of grieving fans around the world in saying: we love you Chester and you will be forever missed.”
