Tributes pour in for ex-NRL player who was found dead

Tributes are pouring in for former NRL star Chad Robinson, whose body was found at the bottom of a cliff on Thursday.

Robinson, who played with the Parramatta Eels and Sydney Roosters, disappeared from his home almost a month ago.

Electricity workers made the discovery on Thursday morning inside a car, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.

‘A post-mortem examination will officially determine how the man died. Initial inquiries suggest there are no apparent suspicious circumstances,’ police said in a statement.

The family confirmed the heartbreaking news on Facebook.

‘It’s with a heavy heavy heart that we can confirm that Chad’s body has been found this afternoon.

‘There are no words for our whole [family’s] loss and especially his two beautiful kids. Thank you everyone … for your support the last few weeks.

‘Brother you were the world to all of us, I can’t imagine life without you, but you are free, fly high my beautiful brother.’

Fans shared their condolences in the comments section of the Facebook post.

‘Chad – every morning since you disappeared one of the first things I would do is to check for updates on you, hoping that I would read about your safe return. But this morning I woke up to this – no words just 💔💔💔💔💔💔. You and your family are in my thoughts Chad, the world will forever miss your smile and infectious laugh. You will be missed,’one person wrote.

Another said: one person wrote: Thoughts and prayers are with you Robinson family. Hope you guys are able to get through this from the support of everyone else. RIP Chad. #RIPChad.

Parramatta Eels chief executive Bernie Gurr also paid tribute to Robinson.

‘The Parramatta Eels are devastated by the news of the tragic loss of Chad Robinson, Blue and Gold player number 617,’ he said.

‘Chad was a much loved local junior, first-grade player and valued teammate at our club.

‘Chad will be missed dearly. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this very difficult time.’
