Carrie Bickmore has slammed the TV Week Logie Awards by saying not enough women are nominated in this year’s Gold Logie category.
‘I could list 10 women who I think deserve to be up there … I am really surprised Lisa Wilkinson isn’t up there, I’ve been a massive fan of hers for a long time,’ she said in an interview with The Daily Telegraph.
‘I know everyone says it is the public who vote, and I’ve been very fortunate so I’m not going to sit here with my violins out, but it does genuinely surprise me that there aren’t more women.’
The 36-year-old, who isn’t nominated for the first time in five years, says she’s relieved to be out of the running this time around.
‘It’s a tiny bit of a relief to be honest … There are interviews, photos shoots on the day, a lot of stuff that makes it quite exhausting,’ she explained.
The only female to be nominated for a Gold Logie this year is Jessica Marais.
The Wrong Girl actress is up against Peter Helliar, Grant Denyer, Rodger Corser, Samuel Johnson and Waleed Aly.
