Steve Price has opened up about Carrie Bickmore’s private battle to cope with the death of her husband, Greg Lange, in 2010.
Prior to him entering the jungle for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here, the shock jock revealed to TV Week that “no one would have known” what his co-star on The Project was going through, despite her partner’s brain cancer diagnosis.
Speaking with the publication, the 62-year-old recalled how Carrie picked up the Best New Female Talent award at the Logies just months before Greg tragically passed.
“She was very brave that night at the TV Week Logies when she was voted the most popular person on television,” he said, noting that her inherent professionalism never revealed what was really going on behind closed doors. It was a secret she kept to herself as she struggled to regain some normality.
“Carrie was flying back and forth to Perth each weekend to sit by his bedside. She would come back to film and no one would have known.”
In a gesture that Carrie admits she is “really chuffed” about, Steve has selected Carrie’s Beanies 4 Brain Cancer as his support charity for the show. If he wins, it will mean that the radio host secures $100,000 to donate to the cause.
“He’s always been supportive of my fundraiser work,” the TV host said previously.
