Camilla, Duchess of Cornwell, used last week’s royal trip to Canada to deliver a face-to-face message to Prince Harry’s girlfriend: ‘You’re not welcome in the royal family’.
While the 69-year-old’s three-day tour may have seemed like official palace duty, sources tell New Idea that the meddling royal had an ulterior motive.
Concerned that American actress Meghan Markle isn’t good enough for Prince Harry, Camilla had orchestrated an angry showdown with the Suits star.
‘Camilla is not a fan of Meghan and told her just that,’ the palace insider says. ‘She’s long thought Meghan isn’t good enough for Harry and told her that she’s not welcome in the royal family.
‘Camilla believes that only people from London’s high society and royal families around Europe should marry into the British aristocracy. The fact that Meghan is a divorced Hollywood actress makes Camilla dislike her immensely.
‘And while Prince Harry has made it clear to senior royals that he intends to propose to [Meghan], Camilla is on a mission to be Queen and thinks it’s her responsibility to make sure anyone who marries into the royal family is up to her high standards. [She] is secretly hoping she can bully Meghan out of the family.’
Sources reveal Meghan – who is based in Canada to film US soap Suits – had agreed to meet Camilla, but had to idea about what lay ahead.
‘It caught Meghan completely off guard – she wasn’t expecting such hostility from Camilla,’ says the insider.
‘Camilla made it clear that she’s the boss, she’s the next Queen and Meghan needs to know her place and realise that Camilla needs to respected.
‘She told Meghan that she didn’t like her relationship with Harry, and that she should think twice before agreeing to his marriage proposal because Camilla was planning to make her life very tough.’
