Cameron Diaz’s is a “sad shadow of her former self” – with friends blaming her marriage to Benji Madden, according to a sensational report today in the National Enquirer.
The 45-year-old actress, who became a household name after roles in There’s Something About Mary and My Best Friend’s Wedding, has seen her career hit the skids in recent years, and she’s no longer the red carpet favourite she once was. Now the actress has reportedly decided that’s it’s all over – with her Hollywood dreams left in tatters.
“She isn’t half as confident as she used to be, and a lot of that is down to ageing,” a friend told the publication “These past few years she’s stopped working out, eased up on the beauty treatments and accepted she’s not the Hollywood glamorpuss of old. She finds it sad, of course, but has given up fighting it.
“Her husband Benji plays a big part, by discouraging her from dressing up and telling her she doesn’t need to work out or diet to boost her self-esteem.”
Cameron, who was unlucky in love for years, tied the knot with 38-year-old rocker Benji in January 2015 and the pair have been inseparable ever since.
Sources say she’s been putting on a brave face since the scripts stopped coming, but she’s finding it tough.
“Some people think her grey and dull style is a cry for help, that she wants people to intervene and give her a glam-over,” the source added. “It’s just so unlike the Cameron a lot of her oldest friends know or understand, seeing her walk around like this.”
