Sam Burgess’ sister-in-law has weighed in on the NRL star’s shock split from wife Phoebe Burgess.
Joanna, who is the spouse of Sam’s brother, George Burgess, took to Instagram to clear up the whispers that she had taken a thinly veiled dig at former journalist Phoebe after uploading an Instagram snap over Christmas of the Burgess clan – minus Phoebe – and labelling it ‘the best one yet.’
‘It is not in my nature to take a dig at someone,’ Joanna penned via a lengthy rant via her Instagram stories.
‘Phoebe has never joined the Burgess side for previous Christmas festivities,’ she said of Phoebe, who was in a relationship with her estranged husband, Sam, 30, for five years.
‘Therefore it couldn’t possibly be aimed at her! This year was no different to last year on her behalf.’
‘My last years Christmas upload I used a similar caption as it was our sons first Christmas, this year we had out daughter join the three of us hence it being the best one yet,’ she wrote.
