Melbourne couple Dannii, 24, and Denton, 27 first met while working at the local RSL club.

Dannii says Denton was a “massive flirt” who used to wink at her from across the bar.

“I’m not going to deny that I was a massive flirt, but I am going to deny the winking, it didn’t happen,” argues Denton jokingly.

Recently, Denton took Dannii on a romantic trip to the Philippines following the death of her father.

While on the island of Palawan, he gave Dannii the shock of her life when he proposed.

“We were on Palawan Island. It was beautiful. One night, we were having drinks and dinner and there was a band playing, so I got up and started dancing,” recalls Dannii. “Denton came over to join me. He was dancing and then got down on one knee and proposed in front of everyone. It was magical.”

In her excitement, Dannii shared the news of their engagement online but quickly deleted it when her mother lost it.

Donna and Dannii’s sister, Dee, 26, don’t approve of private schooled Denton and thinks the marriage is destined for failure.

“I love Dannii to pieces, but I just worry about her,” explains Donna. “She’s had a lot go on in her life in the last 12 months with losing her dad. I really don’t think that she’s ready for this commitment.

“Denton’s a spoilt little rich kid. He needs to pull his head in and grow up. I think Dannii needs to be with a real man because Denton needs to get some balls. Denton is overweight; he’s a cocky little asshole with a cocky hairstyle.”

“Dannii needs stability in her life at the moment and Denton is just a man baby,” says Dee.

Despite her family’s protestations, Dannii and Denton are happily in love, enjoying dinner dates and road trips every weekend.

“To me, getting married is opening the door to the future, and that’s what I want Dannii to be a part of, my future,” says Denton of the couple’s plans to marry. “This is the relationship that I want. I really couldn’t see myself with anyone else.”

Dannii feels the same way, calling him “an absolute sweetheart.”“He is my big cuddle bear and he’s really my rock.”

The 24-year-old admits, however, that she has always clashed with her mother.

With her father’s passing, she wants to reconnect with Donna and have her by her side on her wedding day.

“Since dad’s passed away, she’s the only parent that I have left, so it’s really important for me that she gets along with Denton,” Dannii says. “The possibility of mum not attending my wedding would be absolutely heartbreaking.”
