After years of uncertainty and four trials, Robert Xie has just been convicted of the murder of Sydney’s Lin family – his in-laws and their young sons – in a crime that shocked and traumatised the nation.
The jury decided 11 to one that the 53-year-old Xie brutally killed the family – battering them to death – agreeing that he was motivated by jealousy and resentment over his late brother-in-law’s success, culminating in the brutal family slaying on July 18, 2009.
The court has found he savagely murdered Mr Lin, his wife Lily, and their young boys Henry, 12, Terry, nine, and Lily’s sister Irene.
Xie maintained his innocence as the verdict was read out, declaring: ‘I did not murder the Lin family, I am innocent.’
