UPDATE: The Channel Nine star at the centre of a police child porn investigation has this afternoon been named by a Sydney newspaper as A Current Affair star reporter Ben McCormack.
Police today swarmed the offices of the controversial tabloid news show. amid multiple newspaper reports that the investigation relates to child porn allegations involving an ACA staff member. According to the Daily Telegraph newspaper the person at the centre of the investigation is McCormack. The paper reports the on air personality was arrested this morning at his inner Sydney apartment before the police proceeded to his place of work.
The raid – which included at least seven police officers entering the Channel 9 show’s Willoughby offices, armed with evidence bags – is confirmed as an investigation related to child pornography.
Senior Nine staff and legal representatives were there as the drama unfolded with police presenting a search warrant.
‘There are police there (at ACA offices) and they are investigating,’ network head of publicity Victoria Buchan told news.com.au. ‘We are co-operating.’
Sources confirmed the police action relates to ‘a personal matter’ and is not connected to anything the show has aired. The network has yet to comment on the child porn claims.
