“I am pleased to be able to report – having just been speaking with Nicole ‘s mother – that she is responding to sound and moving her limbs,” Leslie Chambers said on a GoFundMe page set up for Nicole on Sunday.

“Her eyes are also moving under her eyelids. Her immediate family are relieved to witness this progress.”

A hospital spokeswoman said on Sunday night that Nicole was still in a critical but stable condition, The Daily Mail reports.

Matthew John Davey, 34, remains in custody charged with causing grievous bodily harm and other matters. He is due to appear in the Supreme Court of Tasmania on June 13.
